We're feeling very good about the results in the weekend primaries/caucuses. Maine particularly pleased me because it was the one where the press was still saying in the morning that Hillary's "usual voters" would come out for her. Those were very solid margins and all of the data suggest that Obama is steadily pulling ahead--and we all know what momentum means. I am particularly encouraged by the fact that hints are beginning to emerge that a number of the "super delegates" will swing quickly to Obama once they are convinced that he can win the general election.
We are having a very lively debate in the family about Frank Rich's column in yesterday's New York Times. Roger thinks its very mean and reduces Rich to the level of Maureen Dowd; I agree it's harsh but am not sure that the worry is ill-founded. Theo hasn't weighed in yet; I'll be interested to hear what he thinks.
And do have a look at the article from the lawyer listed in Theo's "what Theo is reading today" box. I really doubt that will happen--my understanding is that the courts say political parties can pick their nominee any way they want but it's still worth reading.
