I helped my wife's niece's husband with weeding and watering at his allotment on Sunday. I envy his artichokes and the beautifully tended beans, peas, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, shallots, corn, lettuce and spinach. The soil's pretty good. It's been hand cultivated for at least 70 years.
