Christmas Preparations

As has been previously reported on the blog, my parents and Tiger's family are all coming to Denver for Christmas. So today, which also happens to be Tiger's birthday, we began preparing for their arrival with the purchase of a Christmas tree. Thankfully one of Tiger's friends gave her a set of new Christmas tree ornaments for her birthday - so our new tree is not entirely bare. At left is the two of us with our first tree together and to the right is Tiger hanging the ceremonial first ornament. Our families are bringing more ornaments to fill out the tree at the end of the week.

We also spent much of this evening baking Christmas cookies for our office colleagues. In addition to the standard cookies featured prominently in the photo, we also made some western-themed Colorado Gingerbread cowboy boots. And you can note in the picture some authentic cowboy boots up on the counter serving as patterns for the frosting on the gingerbread boots. If only they had ski-shaped cookie cutters.

Looks like a good tree! We'll be along soon with more ornaments.
Why not make a ski template and use that for ski-shaped cookies?
