I am just back from several days in Washington where I went to participate in the unveiling of a committee report on PEPFAR which I had participated in preparing and also to watch Theo and Tiger run in the cherry blossom race (photo below). The effort with the report went well. Unfortunately, Theo's foot was hurting so he couldn't run. His roommate, who is a considerably better runner, used Theo's number, running with Tiger all the way but also carefully letting Tiger come in ahead of him--so her official time is now faster than Theo's!
We had several very good meals; I took the picture at one of them.Spring was very evident in Washington but is very little evident here; I will post a picture or two in the next few days.
Janet, I've never heard of a cat that won't go out. Surely if you put it outside it will get the point. We have lots of coyotes here, Jean; I think they have scared away the fox, whom I used to meet on my walks and who is (was) very handsome. I met a woman whose dog was chasing a rabbit today and she told me crossly that it was the last rabbit in Fenwick; the coyotes having gotten all the others. Perhaps you should import them to Burnside, Jean--coyotes, that is, not rabbits.

Thanks for the great write-up, Helen. I can't wait for part 2. This is Theo's friend Greg from Denver. I wish we had your coyote "problem" out here - my mom's yard is being devoured by rabbits and the local fox/coyote population isn't doing enough to get rid of the rabbits.
