Barcelona

Is our current location. We are staying in a five star hotel called the Claris (the more reasonable alternatives are all full) where Roger seems to have gotten food poisoning from something on the lavish breakfast buffet, probably a little pot of double cream. We have spent most of our time walking (pre food poisoning), both yesterday and today, and marveling at the architecture. We're staying in the part of the city with many of the best Gaudi buildings.

We went this morning to the Sagrada Familia, the church that Gaudi designed that is still under construction although Gaudi himself died in 1926. It is amazing, even crawling with tourists. Roger took a number of pictures but I have limited myself here to one of a little street parade that we ran into in the park--some of the many spires of the church are visible behind the group.

And of course we eat well since this is a city of good eating and civilized life. Last night we had a spectacular formal meal; this picture is from today's much more simple lunch--just green peppers, roasted and served with olive oil and salt. Wonderful!

As promised, I have also included a picture of Leta Jagoe, who is still back in Madrid. Blogger insists on talking to me in Spanish but let's see if uploading works!
