I have discovered a new Principle of Life: when you have a lot of things to blog about, there is no time to blog. Next week, when nothing at all will happen, there should be lots of posts. We have two young summer guests: 1) David Lindell, age 15, son of Swedish friends of ours, who is here to have fun, volunteer in a day camp, and polish his already excellent English. He's the one shucking corn. 2) Alistair Miles of Beijing, age 11, our great-nephew. He's here because all of my sister's grandchildren are invited for a solo trip when they turn 11. He's here to have fun, attend an archeology "camp" at a local museum, and watch a lot of television. He's shown on the beach.

I am getting to do a lot of things I would ordinarily not do: go to the Harry Potter movie, discuss the reasons that snakebite kills, debate the ethics of illegal file downloading (David belongs to a "piracy party" in Sweden and takes a strong stand), eat way too much ice cream. It is all very good fun. Many more details (and pictures) will follow.
